CENECO deploys team to Oriental Mindoro to help restore power lines
BACOLOD CITY, Jan. 3 (PNA) -- The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) here sent a team to Oriental Mindoro, one of the hardest hit during Typhoon Nina, to help restore the power lines of Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (ORMECO).
Sulpicio Lagarde Jr., general manager of CENECO, said in a statement Tuesday, the deployed Task Force Kapatid is composed of seven personnel headed by commander Engineer Mark Santiago.
He said their crew are expected to stay in Oriental Mindoro for two weeks after they left on New Year's Day.
Joining Santiago in the assignment are linemen Teddy Castillo, Ronie Villamor, Anthony de la Vega, Charlie Baño, Garie Ermio, and Rogelio Casaig.
CENECO covers the cities of Bacolod, Bago, Talisay and Silay, and the municipalities of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto.
The onslaught of Typhoon Nina in the last week of December toppled down power lines across Oriental Mindoro, which was placed under Signal No. 3.
At least five areas, including the capital city of Calapan, were battered by the typhoon’s wrath, displacing thousands of residents and resulting to at least PHP56 million in agricultural losses.
The Oriental Mindoro Provincial Board declared a state of calamity in Calapan City and in the municipalities of Baco, San Teodoro, Puerto Galera, Naujan, and five coastal villages in Pola town.(PNA)
