The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced a scheduled 12-hour power outage on Tuesday (Sept. 18), to occur within the franchise area of Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO).
Lilibeth Gaydowen, North Luzon Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Officer, said the power interruption will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and would be due to the replacement of selected wood poles along Beckel-Kias 23 kV transmission line.
Over in the Visayas, a series of 20-minute power interruptions will be experienced by electric consumers in some parts of Leyte province on Wednesday, according to the power transmission firm.
Elmer Cruz, Visayas Corporate Communication and Public Affairs Officer, said the scheduled power interruptions will affect the area covered by Leyte IV Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO IV) franchise and portions of Don Orestes Romualdez Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DORELCO) franchise area.
Cruz said that the outages will occur on Wednesday for a brief period of 20 minutes, between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. and another 20 minutes between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The NGCP said the reason for the temporary shutdown of its transmission facilities is the shifting of load, which is in line with the maintenance activity along Baybay-Maasin 69 kilovolt (kV) transmission line.
Also on Wednesday, portions of Leyte V Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LEYECO V) franchise area will experience a 20-minute outage between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. upon the normalization of load along the same transmission line.
The NGCP said the electric cooperatives -- serving as the Distribution Utilities (DUs) of their respective areas -- will determine the specific cities and municipalities to be affected by the power interruptions.
