More Philippine Army troops have been deployed to Negros Oriental to boost current efforts to quell the insurgency problem in the province.
The 32nd Division Reconnaissance Company (32nd DRC) of the Philippine Army arrived here during the weekend and will operate under the supervision of the 302nd Infantry Brigade based in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.
Maj. Edgardo Amores, the brigade’s spokesman, said the 32nd DPRC had served about three months as one of the reconnaissance units under the 3rd Infantry Division’s (3ID) Task Group South West (TGSW).
The TGSW was deactivated with the arrival of 47th Infantry Battalion, who took over the Southwest area of Negros Occidental as its new operational area.
The 32nd DRC, under the command of 1Lt Alex B Raposon, contributed greatly to the successful isolation of the Kilusang Larangan South West from the populace, the neutralization of its guerilla bases there, and constantly keeping the enemy on the run, said Maj. Amores.
This unit is highly mobile and primarily operates in conducting reconnaissance missions. They also perform as a direct action unit when necessary. They are equipped with light weaponry and is capable of sustaining long periods of engagement with the enemy. - pna
