A Strategy for Closer Philippine-China Relations†at the Philippine-China Investment Forum recently conducted by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Philippines at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. Speaking before 500 guests at a packed, standing-room-only hall, Sec. Lopez urged for greater foreign direct investments (FDI) in the local manufacturing sector as one way to further enhance the economic relationship between the Philippines and China in the wake of increased interest by Chinese investors after President Rodrigo Duterte’s state visit. Also present at the event were National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Director-General and Socioeconomic Secretary Ernesto Pernia, the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua, the Philippine Ambassador to China Jose Sta. Romana, and former Special Envoy on Trade and Investments to China and now Consulate General to Peru Francis Chua. (END)
