Local officials in the province recently inspected the ongoing construction of the multi-million 85-kilometer Talaingod-Bukidnon Road project, which is expected to spur economic activities in Davao del Norte and Bukidnon provinces.
The 85-kilometer road project, worth P1.59-billion, is expected to be completed early next year.
Governor Rodolfo P. del Rosario, together with six mayors of the province, said they toured Davao del Norte to see the progress of the ongoing mega project.
The six mayors were Talaingod Mayor Pilar Libayao, New Corella Mayor Nestor Alcoran, Tagum City Mayor Rey Uy, B.E. Dujali Mayor Lolita Moral, Kapalong Mayor Edgardo Timbol and Asuncion Mayor Joseph Nilo Pareñas.
Local officials are optimistic for a much vibrant economy for the province once the mega project is completed.
Del Rosario said the project is tagged as a key alternate road that would significantly cut travel time from Davao City to Cagayan de Oro by almost half.
He said it is expected to capture a significant volume of passenger vehicles and cargo trucks directly plying the Davao City-Cagayan de Oro City route.
In preparation for the opening of the project, Del Rosario has ordered the fast track construction of the coastal road in Panabo City and Carmen.
He expected the unprecedented socio-economic growth of the two locl government units once the road is completed next year.
Meanwhile, Tagum City is planning to build a stop-over passenger terminal along the Canocotan Road, where buses from Davao City en route to Bukidnon or Cagayan de Oro City and vise versa will take the mega project. (PNA)
