2-year old Boy Died in House Fire
« on: December 10, 2008, 05:15:55 PM »
A two-year old boy died few hours after a fire engulfed him when the spilled kerosene exploded inside their house in Barangay Poblacion, Magpet in North Cotabato, around 7:30 p.m., Monday.

Killed was John Row Gamboa of Sulang Subdvision in Poblacion.

According to Gerry, father of the burnt victim, his son tried to reach the kerosene lamp, which he placed on top of their dining table. But it slipped into his hands and fell on the floor. It immediately caught fire engulfing the child.

The father tried to save his son but the fire also engulfed him. He, however, survived and got only minor burns on his hands and chest.

They rushed the child to the Kidapawan Doctors Hospital, Inc., but were advised to transfer the victim to the Burnt Intensive Care Unit of the Davao Medical Center in Davao City.

The child expired while on his way to the hospital in Davao City.

The Magpet Police later learned the lamp has kerosene and a gasoline, which caused flash fire when the fuel spilled on the floor.

Diesel oil is considered a hazardous fuel.

Kerosene lamp, according to police, should only be operated with kerosene or lamp oil, and diesel oil should only be used outdoors and “with great caution.”
