Tagbilaran City Host Lions Club sets the
Lions International Peace Poster Contest on Oct. 20, 2012.
Accordingly, this would be an opportunity for the club to work with the youth and stress the importance of peace, tolerance and international understanding.
The contest encourages young people, ages 11-13, to think about peace, creatively express what it means to them and to share their own unique vision with the world.
The venue will be at Island City Mall activity Center, from 8 a.m. until noontime. There will be no registration fees. Free snacks will be served to all contestants. Cartolinas will be provided but the contestants should bring their own media.
The contestants are from public and private elementary and high school students from this city and from the different towns in Bohol.
Basing on contest theme, “Dream of Peace †, participating kids will be joining hundreds of thousands of children from around the world in sharing their vision of world peace.
This opens up an opportunity for students, teachers and group leaders to discuss with children the true importance of peace.
CONTEST RULES, CONDITIONS
Only students ages 11-13 yrs. Of age.
The contest theme is “Peace Around The Worldâ€
Artworks must be smaller than 13 inches by 20 inches and no larger than 20 inches by 24 inches. Do not mat or frame the work.
ï€ Only one entry per students and each entry must be the work of only one student.
ï€ All artwork must be the individual student’s original creation. Duplicate are not accepted.
ï€ All media are accepted. Note: Chalk, charcoal and pastel entries should be sealed with a fixative spray to prevent smearing. Do not laminate entries.
ï€ Three-dimensional entries will not be accepted. Nothing will be glued, stapled or attached to the artwork in any way.
ï€ The use of lettering or numbering on the front of the poster, in any language, is not allowed. All artists’ signatures or initials should be written on the back of the poster.
ï€ Artwork should be done on a flexible material, so it can be rolled for shipping in a mailing tube do not fold poster.
CONTEST JUDGING
Posters are evaluated on three criteria at each level of judging. The criteria are Originality, Artistic Merit and Expression of the theme, “Dream of Peace .â€
Once the winning poster is selected, the Tagbilaran City Lions Club will forward it to the next level. Subsequent judging is held on the district, multiple district and international levels.
AWARDS
One international grand prize winner will receive US$2,500(or local equivalent) and engraved plaque. In addition, the grand prize winner, two family members (one being a parent or guardian) and the sponsoring club president will travel to New York City, New York, USA, to attend the award ceremony at Lions Day with the United Nations (subject to change). The award ceremony is planned for March 2013. The 23 merit award winners will each receive US$500 (or local equivalent) and a certificate of achievement.
