press release - JSB
The coconut industry is to acquire one sturdy step farther to development.
This after Rep. Erico Aumentado (2nd District, Bohol) filed House Bill 4132, seeking to establish the Central Visayas Coconut Seed Production Center in Ubay town.
In his explanatory note, Aumentado said Bohol is an agriculturally productive province strategically located in the heart of Central Visayas. It is known for its scenic beauty and tourist destinations. It produces rice and some corn, but because of its rolling terrain, a greater part of its land area is devoted mostly to coconuts.
Dubbed as the “tree of life†because of the numerous products and by-products that can be derived from its fruit, water, shell, husks, leaves, flowers, the trunk itself and other parts, the solon said there is a need to improve the industry in order to enhance people’s the living conditions.
