A senior police officer was nabbed earlier this morning in a joint buy- bust operation conducted by the members of Sasa Police Station, PDEA 11, MAPIO 11, Regional Intelligence Division, and CIDG 11.
Investigation disclosed that at around 10:00 AM today, January 24, 2020, abovementioned operating teams conducted buy bust operation at Block 5, Lot 1, Luis St, Vectors Valley, Tigatto, Davao City which resulted to the arrest of Police Senior Master Sergeant Shiela Laturgo Bande, 43 years old, married, active member of the PNP and presently assigned at Philippine Bomb Information Center, Mindanao and a resident of Block 5, Lot 1, Luis Street, Victors Valley, Tigatto, Davao City.
According to Police Major Libera, the suspect was being name-dropped by their previously arrested drug suspects as one of their suppliers.
"She was monitored beforehand engaging in drug selling. Even before she was name dropped. We were just waiting for the right time that she will give in to our trap. She is assigned at the Directorate for Intelligence, which is her mother unit, kaya medyo mailap ang suspect until now," he stated.
Recovered during the operations were the following pieces of evidence to wit; three (3) sachets of suspected shabu, Php 1,000 bust money, and one (1) piece black case.
Confiscated illegal drugs have an estimated market value of more or less Php 22,000.00.
Further, the apprehension of the suspect is the result of the intensified campaign of the Davao police force against illegal drugs and their dedication to eradicate it with the help of the community.
"This proves that our campaign against illegal drugs chooses no one. Tropa man yan o sibilyan, the law applies to all. This kind of malfeasance will not be tolerated in our organization. This is one of the directives of our Regional Director, to ensure that police scalawags have no room in the PNP," stated PMaj Libera.
However, the Station Commander assured that due process will be given to the suspect to pave way to partial and transparent investigation. If proven guilty, she will be permanently dismissed from the police service as part of her administrative sanction aside from the drug charges she will be facing in court.
Bande is now under the custody of this office for proper disposition.(PRO)
