My question to the Chinese government is:
What is your historical basis for Claim on the Spratly's?
Sure, there are some maps the Chinese may have had on the region some centuries before, but there were no Chinese colonization in the region.
China, "Zhong Guo" was a xenophobic society during the reign of the Yellow-robed Emperors. Even the Chinese Eunuch Administrator, Zhen He, made travels to the region, but the Emperor of Ming Dynasty ordered the Zheng Fleet burned and all interests of foreign lands outside of "Zhong Guo" (literally meaning, The Middle Kingdom, the Chinese name for 'China') to be ceased.
The notion of Chinese exterior sovereignty, per se in the Spratlys, in Aksai Chin, Kashmir region is a new phenomenon that developed as part of Mao Zedong's concept of A 'Great China'. A militant Communist manifesto.
The Philippines claim to Spratlys was far more realistic and concrete. The region was part of the Territory of Imperial Spain. All of the Spratlys, southern Formosa (southern Taiwan), all of the Celebes, All of Borneo and around were regarded as 'LAS FILIPINAS'
If only the Philippines had a stronger military.
