The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) provides direct funding assistance to community groups, non-government organizations, and in exceptional cases, international NGOs, and government institutions for small projects addressing technical, economic, educational, and social development issues.
The CFLI or Canada Fund invites applications for short-term (maximum of 6 months, June 2011 to December 2011 implementation period) development projects that will positively impact the lives of men and women in communities.
Priority themes for this year are the following:
· Basic Human Needs
Efforts that provide primary health care, basic education for youth and adults
· Water and Sanitation
· Support to Sustainable Economic Development
Efforts that generate sustainable development, create jobs, increase incomes, achieve sustainable livelihoods, and help prepare communities who face recurring natural disasters
· Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance
Efforts that promote respect for human rights, including children’s rights; democracy and better governance; and strengthen civil society and the security of the individual
· Post disaster Relief
In exceptional circumstances, immediate support to respond to emergencies after the occurrence of a natural disaster, such as relief operations, reconstruction of clinics, day care facilities
· Social Stability and Human Security
Efforts to support peace, social stability and human security in the Philippines
We are looking for proposals in the range of Php1.2 to 2.0M. Applications must meet specific requirements, and respond to the themes indicated above. Other criteria for selection are as follows: i) viability and ability to complete the project within 6 months, ii) clarity of presentation, iii) relevance and extent of beneficiary participation in project planning and implementation, iv) cost-effectiveness, and v) track record of proponent organization.
