Amay crashed. We do not know whether he ran into the truck or the truck ran into him. We do not also know whether it was a truck or bus. It must be a four-wheel vehicle that way involved since it fractured the leg of the indestructible Amay. Now he is brought to Cebu for repairs.

Kagawad Alberto Y. Café is the Chair of the Committee on Culture and Arts. In the production of the commemorative book on the 375th year of the foundation of Jagna, he and George Tavera were most enthusiastic in proving the proposition that Jagna was already a thriving community before the arrival of the Spaniards. Traces of ancient burial grounds were explored. Out of the way places were surveyed. Amay went to places where a billy goat might think twice before exploring.

Burial places were almost inaccessible. In the absence of Amay, George Tavera did the exploring with father Berro. High tide left them stranded in Canupao Point that they have to text for help to extricate them from the place. There were rescued by a boat so there will be other places for them to explore. What the team found were weathered bones, a few broken crockery and old coffins but vandals and treasure hunters were already ahead of them.

The Committee on Culture and Arts together with the Office of the Mayor created the Jagna Culture and Arts Council, which will put out a commemorative book. This will be a joint effort of selected local writers. Almost all points of interests are taken up, from the pre Spanish times to the present. This book is expected to reach not only local but also national and international reader, wherever there are Jagnaanons and their descendants.

Since this book is likely to be made as reference by local high school and college students, it must be well written so it will be appreciated by the ordinary as well as intellectual readers. The Culture and Arts Council had been holding plenary sessions to go over the manuscripts to eliminate misinformation, malaprops and highly flowery yet senseless presentations. In short, they are trying to put up a presentable copy so the editor would not be tearing his hair or what may be ever left of it.

There is a tendency for a writer to obtain information from previous publications about Jagna without crosschecking for accuracy. There had been supposedly historical items but the presentation was highly opinionated and conjectural to be accurate. Besides the language, though English is a direct translation from the poetic vernacular that the context is lost among the verbiage and hardly understandable. Then there is a tendency for a new writer to indulge in poetic eloquence to the expense of understanding.

Kagawad Café must get well in a hurry. He is subbing for the mayor when the mayor is either busy or may not come on time as he is attending to various functions even if off hours. The deadline for the book is fast approaching. Besides his account in Cardo's will keep growing in his absence. The explorers will see to that

Hopefully the first draft will be out this month. The book must be presentable to wide spectrum of Jagnaanons. Where pictures may not be available, illustrations will have to do. Pictures tend to make the expatriates homesick and it may influence local tourism. In this book, Jagna is putting her best foot forward. Amay must come home even his leg might be in a cast.

"That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved."
