Child Trafficking in Jagna
« on: June 03, 2007, 09:36:17 PM »
JAGNA.- The suspect identified as Florentino Ricohermoso, 27, in the child trafficking attempt in this port municipality is in hot water, facing sexual abuse charges aside from trafficking in persons.

Gil Alforque, father of one of the two young girls aged 14 and 17 years old who were saved from alleged racket (trafficking in persons), said in an interview that he will file appropriate charges in Zamboanga against Ricohermoso, alias "Boyong."

Jagna police and social workers here, upon instruction of re-elected Mayor Exuperio Lloren, rescued the two teenage girls from Ricohermoso, a native of Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte. The mayor was tipped off of Ricohernmoso's action and immediately ordered the police to apprehend him last week.

Alforque, father of the 17-year old daughter, narrated to the Vice-Governor's Office last week, also confirmed reports that Ricohermoso tried to entice the duo for jobs.

But it turned out that Ricohermoso allegedly planned "to sell" Alforque's daughter, 17, in Manila, while the other girl, 14, will be kept as his "other woman," the report said.

Boyong's wife works as domestic helper in Kuwait while his three children are under the care of parents-in-law, Alforque told Overseas Workers Welfare Assistance Desk of the vice-governor's office.

Suspicions that Ricohermoso maltreated the duo ran high that would prompt Alforque to sue him in court.

The initial medical examination conducted by Women and Children Protection Program of the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital found that "medical evidence showed probable sexual abuse" inflicted on the 14-year old girl.

The same medical examination conducted by Dr. Nonaluz B.Pizarras said that "genitalia findings showed previous penetrating trauma" on the part of the 17-year old.

According to the investigation by Jagna PNP-Women and Children Desk, the duo who are close friends were enticed by the suspect in going to Manila. But because he lacked the money after they left Liloy, Zamboanga on May 21, 2007, he told the youngsters to drop by in Bohol and look for fund. They stayed at Ricohermoso's brother, Nestor Ricohermoso, for a day and two nights prior to his apprehension.

Alforque's daughter, who was already enrolled in college, accompanied the 14-year old to enroll in high school. After the enrolment, the latter invited the former to go to the terminal but it turned out that Ricohermoso was already waiting in a bus bound for Dipolog then to Bohol via Cebu.

The duo are now temporarily housed and taken care of by the Bohol Crisis Intervention Center based here and provided their safe return home and other assistance based on report prepared by social worker Eva Rodriguez and signed by Center Manager Katherine de la Calzada. (Ric V. Obedencio)
