Ayala Foundation mulls partnership with Jagna LGU
« on: June 26, 2007, 05:49:17 PM »
JAGNA-Bea Zobel Jr., a scion of Alta Sociedad's Ayala-Zobel clan, was here recently to explore possibilities of establishing partnership between the Ayala Foundation and the Local Government Unit.

Zobel's visit last June 19 was part of Ayala conglomerate's commitment to enrich the lives of the Filipinos and help the underprivileged at the grass roots through its tradition of philanthropy strategically termed as corporate social responsibility.

Zobel, accompanied by her partner, Mr. Joel Uichico and their staff paid a courtesy call with Mayor Exuperio Lloren and Vice Mayor Teofisto Pagar with the presence of Jagna First Lady Nimfa Lloren, Executive Assistant for Administration Ma. Louella Jumawan and Municipal Agriculture Officer Camilo Rizano at the Mayor's Office.

Both parties discussed development projects that the LGU has been implementing for the last six years of Mayor Lloren's administration based on the MDP as well as the continuing development programs- -both short and long term projects, which are yet to be realized for the next three years.

The Ayala Foundation, which is considered the first corporate foundation established in the country and has been the institutionalization of the Ayala family philanthropy, has actually been helping at least five students of San Miguel Academy, a Catholic school located in barangay Mayana where one of the biggest Globe satellites in Bohol is mounted on.

The students, who are now taking up education at the Holy Name University in Tagbilaran City, are being sent to college through a scholarship program of the said foundation.

Zobel also informed Mayor Lloren that she is willing to assist the Ginger Processing and Meat Processing livelihood programs of barangay Laca women's group. It is in this barangay that a Globe cellular site is also mounted on.

She added that as a show of her commitment, a total of eleven participants from the different women organizations in Jagna and the Municipal Agriculture Office were invited to a two-day training on Food Packaging at the Dao Diamond Hotel in Tagbilaran City last June 21-22 in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

Being an environment advocate herself, Zobel also visited the LGU composting facilities in barangay Pagina before her group went back to Tagbilaran City. -- Bohol Sunday Post, June 24, 2007
