Department heads of the municipal government here, together with immediate assistants attended a three-day Organizational Development (OD) seminar-workshop at the Ladaga Inn and Restaurant in Dauis, Bohol on August 24-26.
The workshop, which Mayor Exuperio Lloren and First Lady Nimfa LLoren facilitated, was mentioned in the Mayor's State of the Municipality Adress (SOMA) as outlined in his 10-point agenda that aims to further strengthen the local bureaucracy particularly the key implementors of development projects in the next three years.
"In our vision and mission statements, good governance plays an equally important role in our aspiration for Jagna. Our particular role as LGU workforce's "cream of the crop" is to be at the forefront in the implementation process of our vision", Mayor Lloren said in his opening statement during the workshop.
The mayor further pointed out that "we need to improve our capabilities to keep in pace with the task before us in order to be effective and efficient workers…but we can not attain this if organizational problems continue to haunt us and unless we confront this head on and go to the root of the symptoms, we cannot move on".
Participants of the workshop were divided into four groups based on their work functions and link as each identified the strengths, actual problems or weaknesses and recommendations in relation to responsiveness to the existence of regular departments and functions; staffing; lines and types of authorities, coordination of inter-departments or functionaries; work processes n relation to function and most especially on inter-office, intra-office and public working relationships.
