Para sa nako, daghan ko'g respeto sa mga Engineer kai mura man ahong mga pariente Engineer or Medicine. My uncles (my father's brothers) are all Engineers, and one an M.D. My uncles in my maternal side are also all engineers. One in UAE and another in Riyadh, SAUDI. Daghang ko mga cousins that are also Engineers or Engineering students (mostly: Civil, Mechanical, Chemical).

Kuyawan ko sa mga mathematics and autocad/ied skills sa mga engineers. Math is like nothing for them. My father, who is a graduate of CIT in Civil Engineering, and was a company supervisor in Riyadh, SAUDI, used to tell me how hectic it was not only designing bridges and roads, then running a company of some 200 filipino laborers, then at the same time, communicating with the Arab employers etc.

Its a mixture of Engineering, math, community directing, and managerial skills, all into one.

I used to say to my dad, "Dad, mo pursue na lang ko ug Engineering", he used to retort, "Ayaw na lang, 'doy. Medicine na lang" LOL.

Pero, I do really admire and respect Engineers.
Engineers--they are the builders of society, maintainers of society's superstructures, and the creators and laborers of new mechanical processes for medicine and science in general.

All these new heart SA nodes, and orthotic prosthetics are all invented and designed by Biomedical Engineers.

Engineering Power!

GO GO ENGINEERS!

hope it doesnt mean , other profession are irrelevant - peace jeje³

Miss Blue,

Of course it does not mean that other professions are any less than the ones that I listed; the three that I listed were in my view, the ones necessary for societal function.

Education is prime. Always. It is the duty and role of the teacher, professor, instructor to educate students in their respective fields to mold and train future technocrats into their respective professions/strengths in society. The teacher's responsibility is to create doctors, nurses, engineers, dentists, pilots, construction workers, artisans, etc out of the mass of children/ students. Education, in my point of view will always be the core profession of any society. The teacher is the molder of societal basis: the individual. The future of any society and the direction it marches toward is transcendental on the finances to provide education, educational facilities, and resources.

Medicine/Nursing is second because it is the role of the Physician and Nurse to heal and repair the workers of the system (society) and to get them back into tip-top shape (he he he) so that they can go back to their roles/professions and maintain easy/smooth transition. The role of the physician/nurse is to care for the health of the entire society, assess any viral outbreaks, treat any debilitating diseases that can be pivotal and catastrophic to the financial arm of the nation (by harming and ailing the working class/ the proletariat). Then of course there are tertiary members of the greater arm that is Medicine;--the allied health workers that collaborate in expediating the role of the physician in treating the health of the nation/society.

Engineering. Engineering because it is one of the ancient of professions. The bridges, streets, houses, skyscrapers, underground structures, railroads, airports, ships, tankers, oil rigs, etc. All the structures that facilitate and expediate the exchange of communication, economic trade, military movability, medical availability etc and educational transferability all depend on the Engineers and the construction workers that are supervised by the engineers. The Engineers are the maintainers, the stewards of a nation's infrastructure. Society will not work without the presence of skilled, educated, and hardened Engineers. The Engineer's role and importance is invaluable. His is the role of maintenance, and projecting communication, trade, military fastidiousness.

Everything else such as; The Arts are beautifications. It beautifies society, for the mental and psychological well-being of the inhabitants.

One could say: a Symbiotic Relationship.

I did forget one thing:

The priests, ministers, pastors: Their role is pivotal, as they provide religious and spiritual awareness and faith-constructing ministries. Which, in a micro-macro-scopic point of view, provides mental and spiritual water for any worker in society. Peace of mind/ Mental clarity is necessary. Since Man is a communicating / complex being with distinctly/uniquely existentialistic tendencies (it is the prime character that distinguishes man from animal).

To Ms. Blue and all others that are not part of the three professions I listed:

Don't be discouraged if your profession was not listed. That does not mean your profession is any less important that what was listed, nay, for every job in society has its own importance and role in society. Just as there are many different body parts in the human body, one cannot say that one body part is more important than the other; as each body part (the ear, the hand, the foot, the finger, the heart, the lung, the stomach, the bladder, the brain, etc etc) all have a particular role, and function. And all together make up a symbiotic relationship of tissues which makes up --> THE BODY.

Just like what the bible says! he he he he!

1st Corinthians 12: 12-26

12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves  or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts,  yet one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

For me, in observational analysis lang:

I have alot of friends that are teachers in elementary school (1st, 2nd, -6th grade). It's rather humbling to hear about their personal stories in the classroom, and one cannot help but look back in time and remember the times how we were in elementary school some 15 some years ago. It really is amazing how time has past. One realizes, darn, wow, we really are 'old' now. hahaha!

I had a conversation with a friend some weeks back, she's now a teacher (she teaches Spanish in secondary school), and I was reminded how I was her Spanish partner back in high school in the 2001-2002 academic year.
MY reaction to her was, "Goodness Gracious, Eleana, where has the time gone?"
Her retort was a giggle here and there. And a yelp in compliance and agreement.

Daghan jud ko'g respeto sa mga teachers, instructors, professors out there.

In my life, as a professional student, and my tenure in undergraduate college--I have been molded and influenced greatly by the passionate flairs of my professors (History, Biology, Chemistry, Religious Studies) who allowed us students to find the intelligence and ability within us, through their instruction and through their own personal and professional experiences.

My friend and advisor, Barry Shapiro., Ph.D, a professor of History in the prestigious Allegheny College used to say to me in our frequent office meetings, "Al, don't ask what consequences occured through the action and expect all answers to be answered by whim. Some answers are left unanswered, unless you take the reigns of life and search for the answers and answer it for yourself."

Poignant and quite exuberant. My professors not only ignited my personal drive in studies, but, for more the less, encouraged me and my peers to strive for the best, to be confident in one's ambitions and to always, always, seek for the horizon.

Teachers are personal heroes.
From my 1st great teacher to my present Medical Clinical Instructor, I hold them on a pedestal.
Respect is earned. Teachers earn it quite honorably.

May the tribes of instructors, academians, increase.
