What do you do and are you happy with it?
« on: November 13, 2007, 06:50:58 PM »
What do you do for a living, what are you studying at school, what are your preoccupations or engagements as a homebody, etc?

Are you happy with what you are doing? Do you feel you are in the right career path? Are you thinking of changing your career or course? Would you rather be doing something else?

As of now, i still don't know and haven't decide what course should I take after my language course.

And I have to start thinking now as I only have one year or less to think.

I am a 4th year student at Allegheny College, and a double major in Biology and History. However in the field of Biology, specialized in Molecular Biology with a special interest in Physiology, Limnology and Microbiology. In history, however, I focus on French Revolutionary History and the theories of Republicanism and Maratism. I am also a Teacher's Assistant for Ecology class and operate as the laboratory research assistant; I grade student's papers, look over exam questions, grade lab quizzes, and test students on their laboratory skills etc etc.
As of right now, am applying to several medical schools and will be matriculating Medical School proper in Fall of 2008.

Am I happy with what I'm doing?
-------------------------------

I love studying; i love reading, learning. My passion is biology and medical science, however, have a fascination with historical discourse in human civilization, particulary in western civilization. Though there are times when my duties as a full time student, research assistant, and teacher is rather overwhelming, I wouldn't be doing it if I didnt like it. The passion of learning and setting precedent, finding a new causitive agent, bacterial vectors, and ways of control is rather titillating.

On the subject of being a teacher's assistant; I dont mind it. I do what I have to do and dictate grades according to a student's particular strengths and weakness. Am extremely strict and hard towards my students. As much as I enjoy undergraduate college, I am excited to begin 1st year Medical School. Luckily for me, I'll have TB keep me sane for the next 4 years ;)

LOL!!

I am a Graduate Pharmacist Intern right now, still waiting for some papers and fixing some technicalities to finally sit for the state boards, hopefully next year.

There are some days when I almost think I hate what I am doing, but I know that's not true. I do love what I'm doing. I learn something new everyday, it keeps my job from getting 'routinary'.

At home, I am a glorified maid. I enjoy cleaning. I especially enjoy scrubbing and disinfecting the toilet. That's my passion. LOL

What do you do for a living, what are you studying at school, what are your preoccupations or engagements as a homebody, etc?

I was a junior accountant with a downtown Houston company for a while. I used to wake up at 4am everyday to do my 1 hr commute to the office and deal with numbers day in and day out. A year ago, my husband and I decided that it was time for us to have children. Right around the time, I switched over to another company near my home to do tax and investment accounting. Being a wife, specially a wife of an airline pilot who's gone 4-5 days at a time is quite taxing when you think of managing the finances, the house, the pets and the yard. I am still pretty traditional and conservative.  I finally quit my job working for other people and my husband and I started a Real Estate Investment company and just this year, we bought a Non-medical home healthcare franchise. So far, so good.

My preoccupations as a homebody....experimenting in the kitchen, I have a sweet tooth  ;D...vegging out in front of the TV and watching animal planet... playing with my dogs...snuggling with my cat...feeding the neighborhood ducks...feeding the pesky squirrels....pruning my roses...going out for long walks....fixing things...or small home improvement projects.

Are you happy with what you are doing? Do you feel you are in the right career path? Are you thinking of changing your career or course? Would you rather be doing something else?

I feel..settled..might be the right word. I've found a wonderful man that I love more than life itself, I have the support of my great family, I have wonderful friends I can call up in the middle of the night...Right now, being blessed with children and having my father's health restored would complete the dream.  Career wise, as much as I enjoy being a businesswoman, I wish I could breed roses and fragrant plants for a career.

I guess I'm practical because I dont think I will change my career path until retirement, but if being a Rose Breeder can pay the bills...that's what I'd rather be doing for a living.

-I'm a homebody, but having a little business.I'm selling Philippine goods to our kababayan aside from doing the farm.Yes,I'm doing the farm alone while my husband just support me.Since he have his own work,so I do it myself.

-I'm a fashion designer and a graduate of a computer course,.But for over 10 years not doing my supposed to be job,it made me dull and of course it made me sad.But it's not too late...though I missed doing the right path for me,I will move on...next year! ;)
