This is indeed a lively forum!  Congratulations to the webmasters for making it happen.

I'm a foreigner, now living in Bohol with my ex-OFW wife and our bata-to-be.  We thought that out of our choice of places to bring up a child, this would be the best.  Let's just hope I don't get killed like the german in Laya 
Seriously though, I appreciate your hospitality, warmth, the natural beauty, and the level of education (I swear people here are smarter on average than in the UK - no flattery).  Am very happy here.

We are setting up a business here - IT services for foreign companies mostly.  So, to all the forum-reading nerds out there - I'm looking to hire some developers with good Microsoft SQL Server experience.  PM me if you have that & are looking for a stimulating job in your homeland.

ps. I will try to use my limited Visayan on here sometime, just bear with the English for now

I heard somewhere that despite all the problems this is the least corrupt province.. is that correct?  There is some though - shame to see it, and I have seen first hand.  Some public servants need to realise that the people must get rich before they can also get rich.  If it's the other way round then I think the process is quite slow.

Have you set up google webmaster tools etc to get your site higher up the rankings?  Because of the content it deserves to be above most if not all the other Bohol forums.

Friends call me either "Ben" or "Benny", and I'm glad I have a namesake here.

I believe Bohol should promote "soft" investments like yours because they are less intrusive or detrimental to the island's natural environment.

I am a Filipino presently based in Japan doing mostly translation (Japanese-English, English-Japanese). Together with my wife, I have a long experience marketing telecom and other products to the foreign community here in Japan but most of the marketing outfits have set up call centers in Manila where the operation cost is low.

It occurred to me that the cost for this kind of operation should be lower in Bohol and would like to test the waters...  The added advantage is proximity to the international airport in Cebu. A Korean businessman in the call center business has expressed interest in the idea but we haven't really sat down yet.

I am planning to look at the prospects for the business sometime next year but I would appreciate some general update about the business and infrastructure conditions there...

I think some companies were about to move big call center operations here - but the unreliable broadband made them reconsider & set up in Cebu instead.  I hope that will change soon.  Could be worth starting work on your idea right now in anticipation of being the first mover!  Assuming the telecoms infrastructure gets better soon - and I think it should.  There's enough demand for it.

The site is four months old yet. Still a baby. Google will trust your site only after it turns 2 years. This would mean your site is not a spam. However, I was able to bypass this rule as Google has already indexed more than 4,000 pages of Tubag Bohol and counting.

Search optimization is a tricky game and sometimes you won't know if you're really doing it the right way. It's a trial-and-error affair. Google's main page has posted specific guidelines and instructions on how to make a site Google-friendly.

I'm based in Thailand right now. I've been here since April last year. If I happen to visit our province, I'll meet you up.

Mike - hope we can meet sometime... so I see you are making this site partly out of homesickness.  Still, Thailand is a nicer place to live than most for all that I hear.  I wouldn't mind a Tom Yam right now!
