Being a 23 years old, and one that cares for the well being of my younger siblings and younger cousins, I think I have a better understanding of what my parents have always viewed in terms of children and raising them.
As an adolescent, with the surge of testosterone and the need to rebel, I did not have a clear focus on what my parents wanted. Then again, that is universal for most of us. Race and ethnicity matters not.
Presently, though, I have a better understanding of the kind of burden my parents had in raising 4 children and sending 2 of them to college and then one of them to medical school. The demands of life can truly be stressing, but such is the sacrifices of the love of a mother and father to their beloved offsprings.
The older I get, the more I find myself taking up the mannerisms and the habits of my own beloved father. Engineer 'Rico' Lorenzo Lucino Sr.
When I bear my own children in the future, I admit that I would be as protective with them as my father is with us. And shower them with the privileges that we were given by the hard work of my father and mother.
My beloved father is an inspiration to me. Not only did he graduate as a Civil Engineer form C.I.T, and worked in Saudi as a Supervisory Engineer for over a decade, but went to nursing school and became an RN here in the United States when we moved here back in 1991.
My dad works hard to give only the best of the best to his children, the same as what his own father did for him back in the day.
I want to be just like my dad. My beloved father.
I Love You, Daddy.Linkback:
