Greetings Boholanos!
« on: January 13, 2009, 06:08:32 AM »
Hey everyone,

My name is Leo, I am told I have roots in Duero, Mabini and Baclayon.  My grandmother was Salud Vallejos Ello and grandfather Florencio Ello.

I look forward in learning more about Bohol from all of you! Also, my Visaya is really awful and my Tagalog is non-existent, but please feel free to type away in visaya as I'm trying to learn the language.

-Leo

HelloLeo!

Welcome to Tubag Bohol. In the old days here, you'll receive a welcome drink of Bahalina. Now, maybe it's a drink mix cocktail.... Whatever, here's one for you. Cheers!

;D

These days, you'll receive a cup of salabat mixed with red wine. A cocktail found only in Tubag Bohol.

Welcome!

Welcome to TB Mr. leoello!

Hope you will enjoy your stay with us.  Am 100% sure that you will encounter here funny, nice, friendly and intelligent Bol-anons.

One of my former Chiefs before in Provincial Fiscal's Office named Fiscal Ello.  He died short after I left Bohol. I heard he had a stroke and he was paralyzed, he was over 50. Might be your relative?

Thank you for the drinks, a Bahalina, mixed cocktail, salabat and redwine all sound good. Though "Bahalina" sounds like the scolding phrase my mom says, "Bahala na!" Are the meanings related?

Also,  can you please tell me where you're from? and what city/country you currently reside and how u like/not like it.  Hope that's not too much!

Me - I'm in Biloxi, a town in South Mississippi, U.S., it's a very quaint town filled with casinos, shrimpboats and relatively diverse communities.   It got hit real hard by Hurricane Katrina, but the town is slowly coming back.

Thanks!

-Leo

I'm from Cebu, Phil. I love it here despite our country's massive economic problems :)

Btw, I have spoken with a lot of Katrina victims, (you know how technical support calls include chitchats while installing softwares.. lol!)  I must say that was a sad experience.

Leo, welcome to Tubag Bohol!  We ran out of Bahalina (as what GEC mentioned) but we have sikwati.  We consider Tubag Bohol as our virtual payag (a hut).  We got an imaginary kitchen where one is preparing a sikwati for you.

Bahalina - aged coconut wine called tuba (korek ba ko mga kababayan?)
sikwati - hot chocolate drink made from pure cocoa tablet we call tabliya.  We whisk it to the max (using batidor)  to make it frotty.

to kiamoy---you're now not the only one with massive economic problems, its forecasted we're going to be in a deep recession for at least another year, too many of us are living beyond our means and there were a lot of international greedy players...

Hi, Leo. Hope you drop by again one of these days. I'm from Dimiao, though I haven't lived there in a lifetime. I have relatives in Baclayon, too.
