National Anthems of the World

[Lorenzo]

For all of us who would like to hear the national anthems of nations.

So, what is your favorite national anthem?

[Lorenzo]

A beautiful and powerfully regal national hymn

Rule Britannia

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m97xHboTSi8&feature=PlayList&p=017C4808DD1A1B6B&index=0

When Britain First at Heaven's Command
Arose from out the azure main
Arose, Arose, Arose from out the azure main
This was the charter, the charter of the land
And guardian angels sang the strain

Rule Britannia, Britannia Rule the waves
Britons never never never, shall be slaves.

Rule Britannia, Britannia Rule the waves
Britons never never never, shall be slaves.

The Star Spangled Banner

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGxraHluQBk

O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O thus be it ever when free-men shall stand
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust!”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Arise,
Ye who refuse to be slaves!
With our very flesh and blood,
Let us build our new Great Wall!
The peoples of China are in the most critical time,
Everybody must roar his defiance.
Arise!

Millions of hearts with one mind,
Brave the enemy's gunfire, March on!

Gloria, gloria, corona de la Patria,
soberana luz
que es oro en tu Pendón.

Vida, vida, futuro de la Patria,
que en tus ojos es
abierto corazón.

Púrpura y oro: bandera inmortal;
en tus colores, juntas, carne y alma están.

Púrpura y oro: querer y lograr;
Tú eres, bandera, el signo del humano afán.

Gloria, gloria, corona de la Patria,
soberana luz
que es oro en tu Pendón.

Púrpura y oro: bandera inmortal;
en tus colores, juntas, carne y alma están.

(Translation)

Glory, glory, crown of the Fatherland
sovereign light
which in your standard is gold.

Life, life, future of the Fatherland,
in your eyes it is
an open heart

Purple and gold: immortal flag;
in your colors, together, flesh and soul are.

Purple and gold: to want and to achieve;
You are, flag, the sign of human effort.

Glory, glory, crown of the Fatherland
sovereign light
which in your standard is gold.

Purple and gold: immortal flag;
in your colors, together, flesh and soul are.

Lupang Hinirang

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzY1s4oK8vE&feature=related
This one reduced me to tears, simply beautiful.

Bayang magiliw
Perlas ng Silanganan,
Alab ng puso,
Sa dibdib mo'y buhay.

Lupang Hinirang,
Duyan ka ng magiting,
Sa manlulupig,
Di ka pasisiil.

Sa dagat at bundok,
Sa simoy at sa langit mong bughaw,
May dilag ang tula
At awit sa paglayang minamahal.
Ang kislap ng watawat mo'y
Tagumpay na nagniningning,
Ang bituin at araw niya
Kailan pa ma'y di magdidilim.
Lupa ng araw, ng luwalhati't pagsinta,
Buhay ay langit sa piling mo;
Aming ligaya, na pag may mang-aapi
Ang mamatay nang dahil sa iyo

(Translation)

Land of the morning,
Child of the sun returning,
With fervor burning,
Thee do our souls adore.
Land dear and holy,
Cradle of noble heroes,
Ne'er shall invaders
Trample thy sacred shore.
Ever within thy skies and through thy clouds
And o'er thy hills and sea,
Do we behold the radiance, feel and throb,
Of glorious liberty.
Thy banner, dear to all our hearts,
Its sun and stars alight,
O never shall its shining field
Be dimmed by tyrant's might!
Beautiful land of love,
O land of light,
In thine embrace 'tis rapture to lie,
But it is glory ever, when thou art wronged,
For us, thy sons to suffer and die.

O! Dispenser of India's destiny, thou art the ruler of the minds of all people
Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, the Maratha country,
in the Dravida country, Utkala (Orissa) and Bengal;
It echoes in the hills of the Vindhyas and Himalayas,
it mingles in the rhapsodies of the pure waters of Jamuna and the Ganges.
They chant only thy name.
They seek only thy auspicious blessings.
They sing only the glory of thy victory.
The salvation of all people waits in thy hands,
O! Dispenser of India's destiny, thou art the ruler of the minds of all people
Victory to thee, Victory to thee,
Victory, Victory, Victory, Victory to thee!

I always love to listen their National Anthem...

I dont know why...i must be a french in my past life???

hahahahhaha

[Lorenzo]

Ate Belle, it must be the fact that you love to listen to Classical music and the French anthem is the closest form of that. Bitaw, I think their anthem is very unique, it has a marchesque feel to it; as if ready to motivate the citizenry to war. The battle hymn of their precious French Revolution!

[ms da binsi]

That is what i wanted to express Dodong!!!

You just got my feeling!!!

that was it, ready to motivate for a war!!!

hala Propeta man dagway ka Dodong???

[Lorenzo]

haha dili uy, I just remember the time when you told me you went to a classical concert several months back; I just remember you were so excited about it and loved it.

You have great tastes in music, 'te Belle.
