Original Creativity Generally Starts With a Need or a Problem to Solve

There are all types of creativity, and there are some psychologists that believe that behind every piece of creativity is a need, want, desire, or a problem to solve. That's a pretty interesting statement, and one that's rather hard to refute, I'm sure if we thought about it long enough, we could come up with instances where original creative thinking didn't start in that way, but for the most part I do believe that much of it does.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. - John 3:16-18
