A teenager drowned in the shallow lagoon by the Uhan Spring in barangay Lourdes here after showing off a stunt in diving with playmates on early afternoon of August 27.

At around 1:00 p.m. on Monday last week, 17-year-old Rey de Luna frolicked at the spring with playmates when the accident happened.

Luna's playmates suspected that his head hit on a hard object beneath the lagoon when had not surfaced after diving into the water.

His companions asked for assistance from the adults who were around. Then they searched for Luna until 4:00 p.m. They gave up.

Renante Balane, a kagawad of barangay Lourdes called up a brother who works in Panglao, who eventually informed Nila Montero of Alona Tropical.

Montero referred them to ASG-Bohol where her brother, Godo Paredes, is connected.

ASG-Bohol is a group of civic-minded airsoft enthusiasts, many of them are scuba dive masters, instructors and recreational divers.

Paredes, himself a divemaster, immediately gathered a team composed of Dive Instructor Darwin Menorias, Divemasters Butch and Joever Amodia, Christopher and Victor Mandin, Jerwin Bongolto and Glenn Oceña, then proceeded to the site.

Uhan Spring is one of the many water sources in the Abatan Watershed. It has a small oval lagoon and an underground cave that drains its waters into Nahuthut Creek; a tributary of the Bacong River which joins up the Abatan River.
