on the contrary, mao zedong was not the epitome of a scholar nor did he exude chinese confucian tenets. mao was a communist revolutionary who detested ancient chinese culture, ancient chinese tradition, and the scholars of the past. mao, with his cultural revolution, set out to erase the history of china by colluding with the red guards to burn old books and manuscripts from temples, libraries.

deng xiapeng , zhou enlai, sun yat sen were leaders who tried to maintain the traditional chinese cunfucian culture; the three represent the beauty of the chinese identity. mao was an extremist, akin to pol pot of khmer rouge cambodia.
