whew!  what memories are awakened by this; i used to sing this song as an early grader, as taught by nuns!  (and how i mumbled some words that i didn't understand.)  funny how it all comes back.

I loved to sing this song. When I was younger, I served as a Catholic Altar Boy at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, NYC. The parish friest, Fr. McGreggor, would always encourage us to sing this song during Christmas Evening Mass.

I loved serving with Fr. McGreggor because he had a beautiful voice when he sang this song.

I also loved serving Tridentine Catholic Mass with him. As a child altar boy, I did not know latin and would always ask him for a translation after mass.
