the empty table

by: Lorenzo Lucino

Two empty chairs sitting side by side
one empty table presiding over
the sounds of country blues permeating the room
i'm waiting for one's arrival

my cold chai latte is half full
yours is ready.

the dull log

by: Lorenzo Lucino

There sits a log by the streams near anislag
i came to it some summer day
and woe did it talk back

such unwholesome talk this log permeated
to think that i did not hear his uttering lips
oh with discretion, respect, and posterity
did i address

however, the log continued to address only malcontent

so i walked on by and left the log
to the loneliness that it once had
and the companionship with a dull frog.
