Some 10.2 pct of Japanese have been sexually harassed in the workplace, according to a gender equality survey released Tuesday by the Japanese Trade Union Confederation, or Rengo.
Of those responding, 16.8 pct of women and 3.6 pct of men said they have encountered sexual harassment, the survey showed.
Meanwhile, male respondents who have experienced power harassment accounted for 24.4 pct, higher than 18.8 pct for women. A total of 21.6 pct claimed to have had such experiences.
Of those who have experienced harassment, over 30 pct said they did not mention it to anyone, the largest percentage, exceeding those who consulted with a boss.
In the survey, a total of 71.6 of respondents said they have not experienced harassment. - Jiji Press
