As the direct result of GM, BMW and DaimlerChrysler collaboration efforts, full size hybrid SUVs will now have the necessary power to tow boats and perform high-powered jobs that hybrid systems have not been capable of doing in the past.

By pooling the expertise of these three companies they have reduced costs and cut the development time. The new hybrid system will use two electric motors, one to power the vehicle at low speeds with light loads and the other to assist during highway speeds and while towing or on steep hills.
