A young newly-wed couple decided to raise their family in a simple rural setting, with animals on a farm, and rice as their crop. So they moved to Bohol and bought a carabao from a farmer for 1,000 pesos.

The next day, instead of delivering the carabao, the farmer drove up and said, 'Sorry, Toy, but I have some bad news. The carabao died.'

Botoy replied, 'Well, then, just give me my money back.'

The farmer said, 'Can't do that. I went and spent it already.'

Botoy said, 'OK, then, just bring me the dead carabao.'

The farmer asked, 'What are you going to do with him?

Botoy said, 'I'm going to raffle him off.'

The farmer said, 'You can't raffle off a dead carabao!'

Botoy said, 'Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he's dead.'

A month later, the farmer met up with Botoy and asked, 'What happened with that dead carabao?'

Botoy said, 'I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at 20 pesos apiece and made a profit of 8,980 pesos.'

The farmer said, 'Didn't anyone complain?'

Botoy said, 'Just the guy who won. So I gave him his 20 pesos back.'
