Manny Pacquiao Will Retire Soon?

Pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao hinted he might retire any time soon, dashing hopes for a mega-buck fight with the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr., who faces Shane Mosley in May.

The Filipino, who held court in the New World Hotel in Makati, said his mother Dionesia has been asking him not to fight anymore considering the dangers of the sport.

“She [Dionesia] told me that she would be on her knees just to make me stop fighting. I don’t want to see my mother like that,” he told reporters at a brief talk in the hotel lobby where he was accompanied by his family and posse.

Among the familiar faces in the welcoming crowd was Nacionalista standard-bearer Manuel Villar, whose hand Pacquiao raised after his talk. Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis Chavit Singson and former environment secretary Lito Atienza, the come-backing mayoral hopeful in Manila, stood beside Pacquiao.

kung mo retire man gani si manny that's all up to him...i think he's done enough for boxing that all of us could look back and make us proud that one unique true blooded filipino fighter in manny pacquiao has reached the pinnacle of boxing greatness even surpassing the great Flash Elorde. But as they say in boxing...no one really knows for sure. even the boxer's pride can make wonders in the fighter's psyche egging him for the last encore knowing that his body has already taken so much punishment.
if and ever manny's mega fight with mayweather wont push through..considering that all options have been exhausted but with no avail.. still i would like manny to take on Edwin "IL Inca" Valero, or Juan Manuel Marquez, or Antonio Margacheato..

maypa pacman, concentrate sa boxing. 31 years old is not yet old but if we consider 15 years of being in the fistic world then that's too long already.

Oo: Because he's got nothing to prove na. How nice it would be for him to retire at top of his game. He's got enough money to last a lifetime. Or as they say in football, "you're only good as your last game." This could be understood the other way but how nice it would be for Manny to be remembered as a victor.

Dili: Kay kahibaw naka aning addiction to fame, power and wealth. It's another discussion unta. Let's just say morag bonfire ni that you need to keep feeding the fire with woods... same is true for his "fake" friends. Asa kaha na sila no kung si Manny naa na sa iyang death-beath o pobre pas manatad? Just wondering...

Of course, it's not totally their fault... Manny needs them too... not just for physical security but pyschological as well. One of the comforts in life money can buy. 

A life of envy indeed (for many, hehehe)!!!

manny's reason why he's so eager to become a congressman is that he wanted to help the needy. according to him eventhough he's already helping them, he's using his own money and if he's going to continue doing it he's afraid he will lost everything and nothing will be left for his family. therefore if he will win in his congressional bid, he will use all his pork barrel to help the people in the lone district of sarangani. a very good idea for manny but not to leeches sorrounding him.

just imagine spending more than half a billion pesos for your campaign but still you lost by a wide margin last 2007. it will still be the same outcome this coming may 10, 2010 and if manny can't still get it he's really that dumb.

what he was trying to do is make our people become LAZY some more.

No matter how much money he has, it is not enough to help the poor. what if he runs out?

If i were he, he will build some good sports facilities and not only concentrate on boxing facilities, all over  the country and that would last forever and thus would create good athletes.

GOOD FACILITIES are ALWAYS DESIROUS for kids who already are athletics in nature.
