If I could live in another time, another place and to be someone else then
  I would like to be one of the Godly woman in the Bible  like Esther.

BC 479 = Esther appears in the Bible as a "woman of deep piety, faith, courage,
              patriotism, and caution, combined with resolution; a dutiful daughter
              to her adopted father, docile and obedient to his counsels, and anxious
              to share the king's favor with him for the good of the Jewish people.
             There must have been a singular grace and charm in her aspect and
              manners, since “she obtained favor in the sight of all them that
               looked upon her” (Esther 2:15).

I would have loved to have lived in this time. When the era of the pen was nigh, when lovers wrote to each other fastidiously. I should have wanted to live then.

PS. To Ate Belle, did you know that the Great Dr. Rizal studied and specialized in opthalmologic surgery in Paris, France?

Our beloved great Filipino was educated in Spain, specialized in Heidelburg, Germany, and then gained further specialty training in Paris, France.

Many historians like to claim that Rizal died without children. I protest to that. From reading Rizal's journals and his collection of poems, he was a rather connoisseur in the arts of women. He was a gentleman, that cannot be argued, however, he had relationships with English women, French, German, Spanish as well as Filipina Mestizas. I am sure Rizal's many years in Europe and his many varied tastes in relationships led to children. Unclaimed, perhaps.

He was known to have had a soft and deep voice. Firm and gentle hands with eyes that could pierce a woman's heart. He was not only a learned physician, but a great poet, orator, national hero, but was also a lover. He loved.

Besides France,

I would have loved to have lived in the time of the Great American Civil War.

I have visited the great American Battle Field site of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania back in 2007. I was lucky enough to enter the Historic Surgical Museum, seeing with my eyes the kinds of medical kits and surgical equipment that the surgeons/doctors of the day utilized. A saw and brute anesthetics to dim the pain of soldier/patients before amputation.

Humbling. When I saw the old surgical kits and read the testaments by a young Federal Army Surgeon, his personal testament in amputating over 400 soldiers in a single week; was rather humbling.

Indeed, the best place to train a surgeon is a battlefield. As in the olden days.

Yes, that was the medicine of the day, Ma'am States. The days before pasteurization, the days before sterilization techniques. The days before anesthesia and analgesics. The days before CT scans, MRIs, etc.

The days where medicine was based on IPPD (Inspection, Palpation, Percussion, and Diagnosis).

Unfortunately, many of those soldiers in the great Civil War did not die due to their wounds gained in valor in the battlefield, but died due to septicemia (sepsis).

It is humbling for me to know this. That behind the valor of the soldiers of the Federal Army in the Civil War was the hands of the Federal Surgeon and Surgical Nurse, saving those who could be saved with the medical knowhow at the time.

It is amazing how the medical profession has made giant leaps since then. Humbling and awing at the same time.

Most of all, I am humbled and awed that I walk on the footsteps of those who tredded before me. And knowing that I am leaving footsteps for those who will come after me.
