First came the use of prepaid mobile phone lines. Then came landline phones using prepaid technology. Lately, a petroleum company has also been retailing products to customer who have prepaid cards. Amid the economic crunch and the tough times being experienced by consumers due to high prices of petroleum, food and electricity, power retailer Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has come up with a scheme for consumers to use prepaid electricity meters.

i am an electrical engineer but these companies forgot their purpose why they exist...
they treat electricity as a commodity instead of service......basin moabot to the point nga ug dunay operahan sa hospital pangayuan ug load para kuryente...
it is not bad to think of profit for these utilities but they should not forget their main reason for existence...conservation of energy is not doing without but doing better (best)....

Most of our food bya kay prepaid except when you go to a restaurant na "post paid" but then we know already pila atong bayronon.  If we come to think of it, maayo siguro ni kay we can only spend within our means. :)
