On the first day of this Sandugo festival month, a new jewel of Bohol's tourism industry will open to the public to offer first-rate resort accommodations and amenities.

A mere forty-minute drive from Tagbilaran City, the Villa Tarcela Resort stands just right of the national highway as you are greeted by the giant arch warmly welcoming you to Valencia. It is undoubtedly a new landmark of the town and a fitting representative of Valencia's best and of Boholano hospitality. On your left loom the hills of eastern Bohol and on your right coconut trees line the fine sandy shore of the southern Bohol seacoast. Villa Tarcela also has a swimming pool, a sea-view open bar and restaurant - from which you can have your choice of native or international cuisine, a souvenir shop, internet connection, scuba diving equipment for rent, and boat tours to coral reefs in nearby protected marine sanctuaries. It offers free transport from anywhere in Tagbilaran City to the Resort, tour assistance, and free transport to and from the cool, refreshing waters of Badiang Spring.

At Villa Tarcela, you can also play badminton, chess, or beach volleyball or go trekking or fishing. You may even have time to visit the old stone church of Valencia, which exquisite wooden floor has been hailed by the art historian Regalado Trota Jose in his book Visita Iglesia Bohol as "the best preserved and the most ornate of its kind" in the Philippines.

It is one between a mother and her children - a mother named Tarcela Tagaro, whose passionate love for the beauty of Bohol has inspired her children, who may each have gone on to pursue their own careers in other lands but in each of whom still beat the heart of a true Bol-anon. Villa Tarcela is fully staffed with tried and tested personnel, some of whom have worked in five-star hotels and restaurants all over the country. Villa Tarcela's room rates for single or double occupancy are: Standard Room: P1,495; Deluxe Room: P1,950; Scandinavian Room: P2,495; Japanese Room: P2,495; Hawaiian Room: P2,495; and British Room: P2,495. Children between 12 and 18 years old are charged P100 without an extra bed and P300 for an extra bed. Adults are charged P500 for an extra bed. Extra persons in a room are limited to one adult or two children below 18 years old.

Villa Tarcela Resort opens to the public on July 1 but reservations are now available. The first 50 bookings will get a 10% discount. Villa Tarcela also offers discounted rates to groups of at least 20 and to members of www.tubagbohol.com.
