Suportado ni Senator Bong Go ang suhestyon ni Senator Alan Peter Cayetano na italaga si dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte bilang special envoy to China kung magdedesisyon si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. bilang ito ang appointing authority.

Noong August 2 ay nagkita sina dating pangulong Duterte at Pangulong Bongbong Marcos Jr. sa Malacañang at pinag-usapan ang naging pagbisita ng una sa China at ang naging meeting kay President Xi Jinping.
