The latest road smash-up last night claimed the lives of three motorists while two were injured after five vehicles collided along the national highway in barangay Dao, this city.

The accident involved a 10-wheeler truck, a pick-up type multicab, two motorcycles and a Mitsubishi Pajero.

Both drivers of the two motorcycles died on the spot as the 10-wheeler truck, driven by one Welbin Nacis, 36, a resident of barangay Calinginan Sur, Sevilla, ran over them.

The casualties were identified as Ronelio Millanar, 50, a resident of barangay Manga this city and Cornelio Putong, 37, a resident of barangay San Isidro, this city.

Putong’s wife, Desideria, also hit by the truck, was rushed to the Gov. Celestino Gallares Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said that the multicab, driven by one Saturnino Darunday, followed by the two motorcycles and the Mitsubishi Pajero, driven by one Virgil Tabingo, were going on the same direction when the 10-wheeler truck bound for the city proper veered towards their lane.

The speeding truck, loaded with sand, rammed first into the multicab which swerved on impact.
The two motorcycles crashed into the multicab throwing off its drivers and passengers on the road including Sheena Millanar, 11, daughter and backrider of Ronelio Millanar.

Truck driver Nacis told police that he lost brakes as he tried to maneuver out of the line of vehicles.
He ran over the three victims, missing Millanar’s daughter, Sheena who fell meters away from the pile-up sustaining only minor injuries.

According to police, the area where the accident happened is badly lit while there are no road warning signs.

What a sad incident! Tagbilaran is getting more crowded and they must have to do some strict traffic rules and regulations and there should be a speed limit in an accident prone area.

what i know Dao is now the central terminal in Bohol, there we can have our rides on various routs going to our respective towns, pwidi sab rented vehicles like vans. hala grazz, i check para makahibawo ta sa true story.

Ms. Brownman, this is the area where we stayed (DAO DIAMOND CENTER).... the street  is on the way to Manga. Busses traveling way to Loon, Tubigon and  to Talibon.  They are driving there too fast and road are quite narrow and some of the driver driving too reckless.  I hope that alcohol is not the main reason of that accident.

I just got done talking to my mother.  I told her about this Mr. Millanar pero wa man sya kabalo naay na aksidente.  Relatives ra ba nang mga Millanar sa wife sa cousin ni Mommy.  Iya pa daw subayon karon.

Many places including the central business district of Tagbilaran is very dark and scary at night and thats just as soon as it gets dark out.
The road near to Bombay, and Rose Pharmacy, just an example of one main out of many that need to be better lighted at night time.
I feel it is a gateway for inviting such hold ups that have been going on with in the city.
