Salamat, Macks for sharing the pictures of your parents, dog and the three lonely mangoes!  It really warms my heart to see two older couple/parents who are still enjoying life together.  Your Papa looks like fun/cool and your Mama is, well, a strict and yet loving teacher.  They look so physically fit too.  I like the best the picture  with the caption, "Papa and Mama relaxing".  They really looked relax plus the sight of their dog added to the relaxing ambiance.  Again, thanks for sharing your family to us.

An explanation about the mangoes, just in case you are puzzled by their significance:  The tree was planted for Sir Macky's eldest.  It is usually heavy with fruit in the summer but this one time, quite out of season, it has these three hanging from a branch.

They are old, but maintained their health through balanced diet and light exercise. My Father was 40 when they got married and I came 4 years later and my mother was 10 years younger than my father. So if I am now 42, that means, my father is now 86 and my mother 76. Sigbin noticed that we don’t have any maid at their old age. Me and my brother in CA and in Saudi repeatedly told them to hire a helper, but they are boneheads and refused to have one. They preferred dogs and chickens as their companions, so we keep it that way. Pero sa una daghan nang gipa-iskwela sa akong Mama, pero nang graduate na. When we were young, we are trained to do house chores, though we escape to hang around with our barkadas.

Jun, my mother is your co-Carolinian. She was one of the pioneer Boholana scholars of San Carlos, being an athlete. She graduated Education, Major in Home Economics, mao nga maayo mang luto ug manage sa balay. Dili gyud na mo sipyat si Jun mo agi sa balay kada bakasyon niya, just for the nice recipes of my mother.

In our backyard, we planted many trees. Mostly in commemoration to birthdays and anniversaries. The mango was planted a day after my eldest was born, being their first grand daughter. For my 2nd child, they planted Lanzones and for my third, also lanzones. For my wedding, we planted Chickos and mahogany trees in our land in Bilar. My father loves gardening.

The reason I asked SigbinII (Paul) to visit our house is to scan the pictures of the Tabaco Family, the father of Joey, in one of our souvenir album “The Bohol Circle” a Boholano organization in the US. Unfortunately, my mother could not find that book in her pile of old books. So Sgt. Joey, I will search it myself during my vacation this summer. Those pictures were too vivid in my memory as they were well featured as the first batch of Boholanos in the US. That book was given by Gaudioso Ferniz to my father during his visit in California in the 1950s.

Maybe you noticed here some continuity from last Dec EB, through the words I used such as:
“the dog” as in lonely Boy with his dog.
“Relaxing” as in Bambi relaxing
and “3 Lonely Mangoes” as in 3 lonely boys.
This is a sort of refreshing your memories as this is an extension to the Dec EB.

Hopefuly the next Grand EB this summer pohon would be more lively.

Thanks for sharing these photos.  Your Parents looks great! You must have to be proud of them.  It could be nice if I was able to meet them short after you had e-mailed to me stated your given home address but time were too hesitants and it was  short before of flying back home.  Well, anyway there are still many times and sure I will spare a day to know them. 

Thanks Sigbin for the good work. You are not only a perfect TB EB Organizator with 100% patience now you are also a good photographer.

Bravo sa imong parents Mr.Macks, good for them! I'm sure they're very good at their diet and physical activities to be able to live that age and more. I notice too that they have slim body figure which is absolutely good for the heart kay the less weight the less work sa heart. And most of all I bet their secret is their love and care for each other!

Actually, I just got my "tabliyas" from the mail few weeks ago sent by my bestfriend. Mao na perti namong enjoy ug sikwati karon.

I believe it is love and mental excercise. Mental excercise kay permi lang ni sila debate, murag si Obama ug Clinton. Pero kutob lang sa debate ug sports pod sila nga at the end of the day, tapad lang gihapon sila ug tulog. Inig ka ugma la-in na pod nga topic.

Siguro, sa ilang generation gap pod ang usa ka factor kay 10 years ilang gap. Mao nga dili boring ilang samahan. There is something unique they have to discover every day, so physically the body tends to become younger to meet the challenge.

But the main reason they stay fit at their age is proper nutrition. They key word is organic. Since our backyard is spaceous, my father grow camote tops or ganas, alugbati, kamonggay and fruits such as mangoes, chickos nga fundarosa (dagko ug tam-is kaayo), lanzones, Cacao nga Javanese ug Cafe nga arabica (humot kaayo).

Also excercise. My father loves to bike and swim. I was thaught to swim at a very young age. As a result, I always cut classes during high school just to have a swim at Tantrade. My mother never do excercise but she is a workaholic. Just last November, she arranged a big party for the Tagbilaran retired teacher's association. If you want to know how she manage, just see the TV series Gordon Ramsey's "Hell's Kitchen". She will do the purchasing of ingredients to the dinner table and she wants it to be perfect, choosing only the finest ingredients and the right preparation. Her motto is "Clean as you Work", so you will never see any mess.

Wow, your parents are worthy of emulation, Macky!  I like their mental exercise of debating and discussing things and yet never let it affect their friendship.

And your papa having a green thumb, is also one of his secret. Nagka tugma gyud sila, great pair.

Believe me Grazie, they can argue on almost anything the whole day, yet they don't feel angry. There has been no boring day in our house as long as I can remember. Listening to my parents is like watching a live tele-series soap opera.

hahahah that's good, Macks!  They make life more exciting by having all this mental activities plus they really complement each other: your Mom a good cook and your Dad got a green thumb.  That's really good!  I will someday get to see them and I'd love to spend some time with your Mom in the kitchen.  I look forward to that.  I hope that someday I can serve them a nice dinner and hope to God that your Mom will give me a "seal of approval" for my cooking. heheheheh  I want to believe that I am a good cook but not until a veteran cook like your Mom can say so!  My grandmoter was a good cook herself but she's gone.

By the way, my mom is a very good friend and fan of your late uncle Nerio. They are the loudest during PTA meetings being me and Zeigfred are classmates.

hehehehe  I guess Nong Nerio had to be loud to compensate for Ziegfred's mischievousness!  Was he that mischievous when you were classmates?  Oh, you should have had seen when he delivered eulogy during the burial of his father. He was something else!

I can tell that your Mom has a mind of her own and she can be a leader activist!  I have so much respect of your parents, Macks!

By the way, NerZam was my Dad's cousin and bestfriend too.

Sir Macky's father is also quite a fan of boxing, wrestling, and even those mixed martial arts competitions.  On the two occasions that I visited them, he was watching boxing bouts at a neighbor's house.  Sir Macky's mother had to call him into the house.

Kabahin anang bunsai, ang naka inganyo nako anang pag tanom-tanom kadtong ig-agaw ni misis nga si Lilet Ladaran taga sawang Guindulman. Basin kaila ka ani kay iyang bana Hapon, toa siguro siya sa Japan karon. One of that Bonsai's is taken from Cainggit cliff, kadtong nag date mi ni misis sa una back in 1987. Mi ingon siya nga iyang ig-agaw naay daghang bonsai, mao nga nasuya ko, mao nga nanguha mi kilid sa pang-pang sa Cainggit. It was during Valentines day.

Ana lang jod ko,seguro tungod kay nagdaku ko uban akong Lola ug Lolo.I like thier smiles,madani jod ko.

Wala man ko makaila anang imong giingon,basin sa sunod higayon magkahimamat ra mi.And I like your bonsai.I have mine as a part of a challenge on how to live with bonsai."Bonsai as in,the older she is ,the more beautiful".Mas daghan hinoon ang orchids kay didto nako na focus akong attention.
