A 14-year old girl died a day after she was raped and thrown off by her attacker into a precipice 54-feet high in barangay Quinoguitan, Loboc town.

The victim was sent by her father on an errand about 6 p.m. last January 2 but never came home.

The worried parents immediately sought assistance of the Loboc PNP and a nearby Army detachment which led to the recovery of their daughter's nearly lifeless body at 2 a.m. on January 3.

The 14-year old girl, who sustained wounds to the head and neck, was rushed to the Gov. Celestino Gallares Regional Hospital.

She told her parents and police the name of her assailant which led to a manhunt operation and the capture of the suspect in Jagna town Wednesday noon. He was about to board a vessel going to Mindanao, police said.          

The suspect, identified as one Joel Meligorio, 22, a native of Butuan City was a third degree cousin of the victim, according to SPO1 Eufemia Fajardo of the Loboc PNP.

Fajardo told the Chronicle that a witness gave them the clue on the suspect's identity who also left his shirt at the crime scene.

Meligorio, in an interview with the Chronicle said he was waiting for the victim to pass by a Purok waiting shed and punched her thrice to the stomach which left her unconscious.

According to the suspect's account, he brought the victim to a grassland a few meters from the waiting shed where the victim was raped.

The suspect said he went to the workers' quarters of the lumberyard where he worked after the incident leaving the still unconscious victim.

When he realized however that he left his shirt at the crime scene, he went back and saw that the victim was still unconscious.

Thinking that his victim was already dead, Meligorio rolled her into a nearby cliff which was 54-meters high, according to police.

I hope Meligorio gets the firing squad. He deserves a punishment that is equal to his crime.

Salamat kaayo that the attacker was identified, and may justice be firm and swift for him.
No mercy for this man. He deserves the firing squad; just as he thought she was dead and had the disgusting will to throw her off a 54 feet precipice, so too does he deserve such a fate.

If I was a relative of the victim, my Kriss/ Sundang would be justice enough.

this kind of people must be put in jail forever...or h*** him up.

He doesn't deserve the life sentence. Why should the people of Bohol and the families of the victim have to pay taxes that will be used to buy food, wash, and care for this spineless rapist. P.I. As this man had no mercy, why should he also be given mercy for his act? He doesn't deserve it.

This is one awful story. Kanus-a pa kaha ma undang ning rape oi? Women have been raped and defiled since the beginning of time, and it looks like it will continue 'til the end of time as well.

Hahay buhay. The girl may be alive, but she'll be scarred for life.

It maybe timely that death penalty will be implemented again, so as heinous crimes victims like rape, murder and other evil acts will be neutralized, murag gasalig na ni sila karun kay wala nay death penalty.

Mike it was reported later that she had passed away at the hospital.

She was reported of dieing from some short of shock done to her body after the trauma.

A bamboo was stuck through a part of his body not determined if it was struck into her from the assault and murder or if it had gone through her as she rolled down the cliff?

i think this guy is not taking drugs his only drunk at the  time of crime thats why for me we need to ban alcoholic drink.
