Meet the man, Mr. Candido Canonigo Castro, “Boggs Castro” a Boholano Artist whom I met in Saudi Arabia. His paintings are mainly focused on Bohol’s panorama.

Dili baligya iyang mga painting, apan puede ka magpa painting ug imong gusto nga theme.

Ang iyang specialty mga portrait ug landscapes nga ipintura sa whole wall sa balay.

Photographic kaayo iyang memory kay dire sa Saudi daghang magpa paint nga Arabo. Ilang itudlo kung asa nga landscape ilang ipa paint. Detailed kaayo ang iyang painting bisan ang mga ornaments sa mga babaye dire iyang gi paint. Kita ko ug iyang gi paint nga Arabic Architecture nga detailed kaayo.

Realist ang iyang style sa painting ug Acrylic iyang material.

Ang painting nga simbahan mura ug sa Panglao or Loon siguro na.

Wala ko kabalo asa na ni siya karon kay mi exit man ni siya. Last year pa mi nag kita 2007.

You know, I like this picture. This is very smart. It is a realistic painting of a Tarsier and it's background is a painting of Chocolate Hills. The painting is made by an amateur painter which became the model of his painting. Very Tricky if you watch closely.

Macks, he will do good jud!  Very nice iyang paintings!  Gusto ko pa paint ug chocolate hills without the tarsier but I also want a picture with a tarsier or two without chocolate hills.

i feartured Boggs before...he's a great artist. he was commissioned by hans schoof to paint the mural of the classic peacock garden resort

He told me he stayed in Butuan for long time and he stayed also in Laguna. His origin is from Guindulman.

OT: Leo, there is an assignment for your as a journalist. It just pop out of my mind that perhaps you could interview my mother. She was a celebrated athlete and during her time, she hold the Philippine record for 100m hurdles. You may ask your uncle Ben, they are relatives. There was also one athlete Simeon Toribio who produced medal during Tokyo Olympics in the 40's and my mother knows him because they were co-athletes, but my mother declined because her brother was among killed in the death march in Tarlac during WWII.

sa may albur church man guro na, the only church na naay ala bridge going to the convent. unique na siya na church kay separate ang church sa convent. sa loboc sad kay unique kay the only 3 storey convent.

I was a student of Boggs Castro in a Summer Art Class when I was in sophomore college. We were using charcoal pencil and soft pastel.

I saw his ongoing work on the wall of the buildings at The Peacock Garden. Truly Superb!

Grabe pa sa training ni Pacquiao kanang mag daro ug mag bugwal sa yuta. Samtang nag huwat sa ting ani, mag bantay sa basak ug mag kalingaw ug gitara. So duha ra ang kapaingnan, mahimong boxer or mahimong singer.

He is also good in portrait and charcoal. I've seen a photo of his work featuring Mayor Dan Lim.

this is a sideline question to raldampong... are you related to the Prov Warden Boy Ampong? He is also from Guindulman.

Ampong, usa ra na guigikanan sa guindulman, Si Nong Boy, nahimatmat naho kadtong diha koy Carenderia sa Tagbilaran atbang sa Provincial Hospital ( Cafe Camille ) One nikaon sija didto unja nangutana, taga asa ko. Guidala nija sa ijang office sauna diha sa Old Alturas, karon bag-o ilang building.

Naka-adto pod kos ilang bay sa Lindaville.

Sikat man gud ang mga boxer sa ato, daghan ni Champion. usa na ning ahong agaw nga si Bobby Berna, nga mismo taga Bulawan.

I've meet him at Bohol Mansion now Residencia El Presidente (near ABS-CBN) along with brother Dr. Jose Abueva (former UP president) during the opening and ribbon cutting of President Garcia Memorablia.

They own a School in Marikina called Kalayaan Colleges. Medyo upaw-upaw na pero askil pag lawas.

Dr. Jose Abueva is active in Political changes like Federalism. He is our mentor in PPP and Global Filipino Nation along with Vic Barrios where I'm one of the founding Members. My Group is called Katilingbang Bisaya.

was also able to meet nong billy and nong pepe. pikas kasi sila nga igagaw sa ahong igagaw sa galia side.

when i met nong pepe while he was the up president, paggawas naho sa ijang opisina i was transformed from a pro US base to anti US base. i beleive sa ijang plano inorder to industrialized the two former US bases for the better of pilipino people. wa lang gyud ma dajon ang industrialization gumikan sa kahugaw sa politika sa pinas hangtud nga na overtakekan tas malaysia, indonesia, thailand ug china sa ilang mga eco zones.

I just meet him last May 2008 at University of Makati, were We held our Global Conference. He has one of most brilliant mind from Bohol.

And still very much active in NGOs, after all these years he don't give up. He's desire for a better Phillipines is undying.

This kind of people to whom, I look up. Dr. Jose Abueva and National Artist Nap Abueva.

Dear Admin,
I am an international art collector, but when I saw the paintings of this artist you highly praised (Candido Castro) I doubt if this so-called artist knows anything about art at all. I am sure that he used oil paints, brushes and canvasses but that doesn't make him an artist. My colleagues who saw his works describes Candido a skilled manual worker, in other words an artisan. You may take my word or loose your credibility about informations on Boholano arts and artists. I have seen many good, but I mean really good Boholano paintings, but the paintings of Castro are what we call paintings made from xerox copy machines. Maybe that was his "work" in Saudi Arabia, to make hundreds of copies of portraits of Sultans.

How can someone says that boggs is an artist? there isn't anything artistic about his works or him, unless you yourself doesn't know what art is. He is an artesan, not an artist. He copies the paintings he paints.

Hahaha! I'm amused by your comments . You must be a great artist yourself but do I know you? have we met before? Because I can't remember any instances that I know you , so please remind me. And show me your works so I will believe you of what you have commented on my works. I hope I'm wrong but I have an idea who you are among the new batch of artist here in Tagbilaran. Godbless!!

well, jesse, glad you're an international art collector. you happen to have a gauguin or a rembrandt? that would be most interesting because they never learned to paint what we call 'crab mentality'.
