Hi Tita,

Sorry for my absence, I was held up with excessive work requirements. I'm still trying to get myself used to driving to the hospital , drive to the college (to teach a night class, am teaching a class on medical pharmacology & calculation) and then perform doctoral research. I didn't expect to teach the class, but i couldn't let go of the pay contract they offered me, lol. Anyways, it's only an adjunct contract, so this way it won't take too much of my time. I was just so surprised when i came to my class last night (last night was the first day), when i went to the room, all of my students were women. haha! no men at all.

Yesterday I was greeted by the college dean, Dr. S, who heard my voice from the stairways. Ingon dajon, "Dr. Lorenzo ! Is that you?", to be honest i have missed Dr. S, she was always such a wonderful and pleasant colleague to work with. She's Filipina (married to a German-American; and she's Ilokana). I was able to thank her for the home-grown tomatoes, amapalya and squash that she gave me last month. Hugged her and we exchanged warm pleasantries.

I'm happy because the college class i teach is only 2 days a week (every monday and wednesday, for 4 hours each day; from 5:30 p to 9:30 p).

Please forgive me for not posting or reading this thread. Just know that i did miss you and everyone here, reading everyone's posts and finding out how everyone is. But i know and i trust that our Lord Jesus Christ will always keep us all in the palm of his hands and protect all of us! We just have to always trust in Him and in His plans for us, and to offer all our worries, our plans, and our thoughts to Him.

How are you doing? I hope and pray that you are doing well and that your family are doing super well. May Our Lord Jesus Christ always bless you and protect you and your entire family!

just fine, thank you very much for the prayers.  alone with 3 cats here now.  two of them are in heat and are very noisy.  i hope no neighbor ever complains about them.  oh, their blaring TVs are way noisier so maybe the meows are drowned.

the banana republic's on a trip.  meantime, i'm psyching myself for another major move.  here we come, another country in 2 to 3 months.  been reading this country's history for weeks now.

relocating is always disorienting and nerve-wracking, but after almost 20 years of moving around, i will survive.  besides, it has its moments.

Hi my dear friends,

I'm so sorry for not responding in time, was so busy trying to help in the relief efforts here in Chicago. The Filipino Community here in Chicago are pooling and converging donations in food, money, clothing and goods here at the Irving Park Center and sending them by way of the Philippine Red Cross to the Philippines. Just yesterday as I was at a super store called Target one of the Filipino doctors at work saw me and reminded me that the goods will be shipped to the Philippines by Friday (today). Salamat to all that helped and donated for our kababayans.

This week has been hectic for me too because I have been busy reaching out to my extended family. Yes, i even reactivated my facebook account. hehe !

Salamat sa Ginoo my family in Bohol are okay. And members of the Lucino Clan in Southern Leyte, Samar, Leyte, Cebu, Butuan and Surigao are all right. When I logged back on and contacted relatives, i was brought to tears. Many of my distant relatives whose homes were around Ormoc and the northern part of Southern Leyte were damaged, but, all that can be replaced. Salamat sa Ginoo that they are okay. Salamat for the prayers and thoughts, my friends. Let us always give thanks to God who gives strength to our bodies and gives all of us the blessing that is life and health.

Love and kisses to all of you guys. My prayers are with all of you and those who have relatives and friends who have been affected by this typhoon.

nice of you to be directly involved in the relief efforts, lorenz.  you can imagine how encouraging such acts are, multiplied thousands of times by the smallest act of a japanese pre-schooler to a filipino taxi driver. it increases our hope for humanity a thousand times as well.

i bet my little finger fr chic is still on relief efforts himself, whether he's in bohol or in new orleans.

welcome back!  i've been busy too, like taking some sort of tour in south asia.  i'm impressed with colombo, with its cleanness and european feel.  they've gone a long way after those recent terrible years of tamil rebellion.

too bad i heard some buddhist monks there in sri lanka are destroying small christian churches in the countryside, all for preserving their buddhist culture and way of life.  i heard too that they don't touch catholic churches, though, as such churches seem too big to be destroyed.  let's include them in our prayers.
