The US and Philippine Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX 13) will formally open on Oct. 8.

It is a regularly scheduled exercise hosted annually by the Republic of the Philippines.

PHIBLEX 13 is the 29th iteration in a continuing series of exercises designed to promote regional peace and security by ensuring interoperability and readiness of Philippine and US forces, the US Embassy in Manila said in a statement.

It will end on Oct. 18.

This year’s exercise will focus on improving interoperability for humanitarian assistance and disaster response missions.

“Every year, this exercise allows us to strengthen and deepen the relationships not only between our militaries but also our communities. This year’s exercise provides an opportunity for our military service members and their Philippine counterparts to train side-by-side on many capabilities, particularly humanitarian assistance and disaster response, which are critical in the Ring of Fire,” US Ambassador to the Philippine Harry K. Thomas, Jr. said.

Military exercises will take place in Crow Valley, Tarlac, Fort Magsaysay, Laur, Nueva Ecija, Subic Bay, Zambales, and Camp O'Donnell in Tarlac, and Ternate, Cavite.

Civic exercises, which include engineering, medical and dental works, are scheduled in Palawan and Zambales.

Activities in Subic Bay include off-loading and static displays of military equipment, small scale boat raiding and handling, jungle survival along Ternate, Cavite, and marksmanship training in Crow Valley, Tarlac.

Light tanks and armored fighting vehicles of the Philippine Army are expected to participate in the said event in Crow Valley.

While artillery firing and drills will be done at the target range of Fort Magsaysay, Laur, Nueva Ecija.

Other trainings consist of a staff planning exercise, a static aircraft display, multiple field training exercises and humanitarian and civic assistance (HCA) projects to include medical, dental, and engineering projects. The majority of the activities this year will take place in Zambales.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. - John 3:16-18
