It's easy enough to say that adversity builds character, but I guess it has to inspire fear first before it can suggest any building plans. As for temptation, ah...

ideally, one should face adversity and turn his back on temptation.  sometimes, though, humans trip and mistake one for the other.  they turn their back on adversity and face temptation.  the proper attitude (not necessarily mine) is to learn to know the difference.

For the record, I don't face temptation. I just sidle up to the source of the force that is rearranging pell-mell the molecules around me...  8)

Adversity is necessary, it tests and creates character. It proves it worthy. Temptation is a constant in life.

On adversity, there is a verse that comes to mind and I find it quite pertinent on this regard;

James 1:12-15
