Batuan incumbent Mayor Gregoria "Goring" Pepito died at a hospital in Cebu City. She was 72 years old.
         
The late lady mayor was supposed to be in the campaign trail as she was gunning for another term to further serve her people.

As of press time, the party under which the late mayor was chair has to proclaim soon as to who will fill up her bid.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Jojie Leyson assumes office as mayor of the town.

Remains of the late mayor will be brought back to Cebu tomorrow for the interment at a cemetery in Mandaue City. - bohol chronicle

it's now known as the report in bohol chronicle did not put into details the cause of her death. this could be possibly due to cardiac arrest.

Ang iyang bana sure ko nga taga Cebu. Baga kaayo na nga pamilya sa Consolacion, Liloan ug Daanbantayan. Naa pa man gani sa Ormoc.

I met her at ICM mall and she invited me to sit with her family and shared snacks with me and spoke to me about how happy she was to see her choir perform and told me every detail and move through-out the choirs performance.

I also featured her choir in a spotlight write-up in one of the papers I wrote for in the past. Mayor Pepito was proud of her choir kids, and her achievements.

I also had taken pictures together with her and in my eyes she was a charming and very kind and considerate woman.

One year later I helped Americans in a tree planting project in her place of Batuan.
