Actor abandons local campaign kickoff; rushes to Manila

MANILA, Philippines - (2nd UPDATE) The 23-year-old son of actor Cesar Montano died in an apparent suicide in their home in Quezon City on Friday morning.

Initial police reports said Christian Angelo Manhilot, the actor's son with his first wife, shot himself in the head with a .45 pistol inside their home along Yakal Street, Tivoli Royale subdivision in Barangay Batasan Hills around 6 a.m..

All, can we refrain from insinuations e.g drugs or alcohol? Let us respect Cesar Montano's family at these trying times. According to the news, his son committed suicide due to problems with his girlfriend. His eyes were donated to the Eye Bank.

I am with you on this one. I was shocked this afternoon when I had heard the news over the local radio. I give sincere condolensces to Cesar and his family at this time. I am not sure what will happen with his running for Governor? I feel so bad for my friend. Today was the first officail opening day for local candidates to start campaigning for the local positions.

I do not think I would like it myself if I had seen peope posting threads saying that the possible motive to commit suicide this morning wwas due to drugs.

Hang in there Cesar so many love you here in Bohol. I had spoke with many who wanted you for their new governor.

What a sad story. May he rest in peace.

I was not aware he was the chef at the well known Italian resaurant owned by Cesar.

I hear they use real Italian cheeses on their foods!

Next time in Manila I am planning to try the place.
