Let's hope our environmental activists in the province will protest this brutal move of raping Panglao Island's shorelines.

i think it's more ok if we can change this topic into a poll. this way, we will know who's in favor and who's not in favor. i for one will favor it as long as i know who is heading and making this proposal and seeing it's proponents. i've read the whole article in last sunday's issue of bohol chronicle and it seems the proposal is good and can help boom the economy of bohol.

Naay advantage, naa sad disadvantage.

Advantage:

*Daghan ug investors
*Mo dako ang land area
*Makahatag ug trabaho sa mga unemployed
*Mo saka ang income sa lungsod

Disadvantage

*Maguba ang marine santuary kay atbang sa Balicasag island ang himoon pag recla
*Gubot na kaayo ang tourist island. Mausab ang Panglaw which mean lonesome place to Crowded place
* Mosaka ang krimen
* Mawala na sa listahan ang balicasag sa diving spot

Ok ra nako magreclaim pero ayaw lang hilabti ang balicasag. i love balicasag very much.

Agree! mas mo prefer pa ko nga himoon nga reclaimation ang causeway aron dritso na kaso lang mawala ang Panglao island kay mao raman na naka separate as island.

Duda ko dghan nag ilog nga negosyante gusto manag iya sa "Puntod island" mao ra ba jud pinaka attractive island sa Panglao island labi na low tide.

karon lang, naminaw ko sa mga commentaries which highlights Panglao - Panglao airport and reclamation... I gather nga usa sa problema nga ni-gawas bahin sa airport mao ang pagkalisod i-acquire sa mga lote where the proposed airport would be located. we all know the complications, ranging from fraudulent sales, pag-doble sa pagbaligya, cost sa palit labi na para sa mga "speculators" nga namalit sa yuta sa mahal nga kantidad only to find out nga barato ra ang palit para sa airport project tungod  kay basi man kini sa gitawag "fair market value" sa yuta, ingon man sa ka gagmay sa area apan hasol ang procedure sa acquisition.

In fairness, duna baya pod koy nakita nga advantage ana nga reclamation. Bantayan lang gyud nga during construction and during operation, minimal ang damage nga mahimo sa marine life, dili kaayo ma hamper ang movement sa seawater, etc. Kini gud nga stage karon murag pre-feasibility pa man tingali ni. Kon pananglit makalusot ni nga project, adto nato atangan diha sa pag himo na unya og Environmental Impact Study. Diha dapita kinahanglan manginlabot ta aron mahimutang sa mga pre-conditions sa ECC unya ang atong mga fears and concerns. Diha nato seguradohon nga mahatagan og angay nga pagpangandam ang possible nge negative impact ana nga project. Then the Local Government needs to create its Environmental monitoring team dili lang para ana nga reclamation, kon dili hasta pod para sa uban pa nga mga establishments diha sa panglao that are also causing damage to both the coastal and marine ecosystem, as well as on the terrestrial.

Proposals of two business groups to undertake a major reclamation project in Panglao Island comes under the scrutiny of provincial lawmakers who vowed the plan will have to go through the "eye of the needle".

Meanwhile, 87 percent of Boholanos do not approve the offshore reclamation in a random radio survey over dyRD's top-rated "Radyo Merkado" yesterday.

Majority of the respondents said it becomes very impractical to reclaim what is naturally part of the sea when there remains a vast idle lot in Panglao as well as in the other coastal towns here.

"The environmental impact should not be sacrificed simply because we want progress," a respondent stressed as he vowed to tap environmental groups to mount a strong protest against the proposed gigantic reclamation project.

The proponents proposed for a joint venture agreement with the provincial government, where the latter would be rewarded over P400 million, as equity in the multi-billion undertaking.

The project would see the reclamation of Panglao Bay to build five islands and gain a 600-hectare stretch of a new coastal tourism hub with hotels and resorts, entertainment, leisure, activity and residential areas.

"Our developer will not come in if there are controversies or environmental ramifications of the scheme," according to the proponents.
         
He said that the group is tapping the expertise of world-renowned master planner WATG which specializes in environmental and sustainable designs.

"The Panglao reclamation project will definitely be a model in environmental management despite fears that this will have adverse impact on marine biodiversity in the area," the group explained

The group is strictly following a process before presenting their proposal to the local government unit of Panglao and apply for a permit at the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA).

He added that going through the SP is a step towards forging a joint venture agreement with the provincial government.

Pero wala jud sila mauwaw maghimo ug reclaimation project nga wala gani kaabot ug 1/3 ang nagamit nga yuta sa bohol. Suway saka sa Bilar, Sevilla, ug uban pang mga bukid sa bohol kong nagamit ba na nga yuta.

Sa Danao Panglao, pwerting dako-a ang yuta nga wala magamit, pila pa kaha ka hectares ang walay nag atiman nya nganong mag reclaim pa man?

Basin baya e reclaim sad nila ang Bohol to Cebu aron mas dako ilang masapi. Duda ko mao na next project nila, kutob ra sa plano walay implementation.
