Acting Lapu-Lapu City Police Director Mariano Natuel said he won’t bother meeting chapter leaders of rival Tau Gamma Phi and Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho) fraternities for a peace accord saying this was proven ineffective because leaders of both groups cannot control their members.

Natuel said enforcing the old curfew ordinance can also be effective in preventing conflict between the two groups from worsening because RA 9344 or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act prohibits detention of minors in conflict with the law.

He said police patrol in areas where members of either group regularly converge is the most logical approach to stop frat-related violence.

Two Akrho members were among five people injured in a shooting incident Wednesday evening on Maximo Patalinjug Ave. in Barangay Basak. The shooters were reportedly members of Tau Gamma.

One of the wounded Akrho members is 17-year-old Clark Lequin. He is still confined at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City for a gunshot wound below his right armpit.

“The curfew ordinance is a hassle to parents because after minors are lectured by the social welfare officer, they are allowed to leave. It’s just a cycle,” Natuel said. - Sun Star Cebu

Grabe na ang dumot sa Bloods ug Crips, sige na ug pinuspusay bisan walay klarong sala ang biktima. Halos tanan laki nga estudyante sa Cristal e-College na recruit sa AKRHO. Busa ginikanan nga anak nag eskwela sa Cristal-e College, bantayi ang lihok sa inyong anak. Karon, dili na permahan ug clearance sa Cristal-e administration kong makita nila nga member sa AKRHO.

Sa Cebu, dili nako matingala about fratmen. Didto ko nagdako.

the very reason ngano dli ko ganahan mag-apil2x og sorority...but my bestfriend did unya ambot unsay nakuha niya.. sometimes, mu-ingon gani cya nako nga naglagot cya sa iyang sis (bale!)....

some people just joined fraternity or sorority without knowing the real essence of such group. they just do it out for fun and curiosity. joining such organization really needs the whole understanding, the passion and the true spirit of brotherhood.

I was just wondering if government officials are aware of this rivalry and if they have think of ways to ease the tension between both parties. Leaders of both groups must be fully aware of the activities of their members. Due to the continuous riots that happened, some members already have a doomed future. They can't just expose themselves anywhere thinking that what has happened to their brods will happened to them too. Parents are pretty much alarmed of this and somebody has to end these things up. I was following the things that happened in the news and internet with regards to the continuous killings and its just too pathetic that this has happened. I believe these groups have their own visions and missions but they were so greedy with power that these  are happening now.

Unsa na diay ning mga fraternity karon? Sa na man ang giingon nga fostering the spirit of brotherhood.

Sa estudyante pa ko sa DWC-T, nakaapit ko sa Excalibur Fraternity.  Ambot kon nag-exist pa ba ni nga fraternity karon.

Well due the fact that some fraternities wants to acquire more members para sila mgdominate in a certain area, things like these are happening. Cguro fostering the brotherhood between their frat lang but not with the others. Pero I think if the leaders will have to educate their members or even control them by imposing rules in their respective fraternities this will minimize rivalries between the groups. As we all know Tau Gamma Phi and Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho) are having a hard time controlling themselves that they result in too much chaos especially in Cebu now. Members are too vigilant. I hope that there are ways to end these things up.

I haven't heard about bloods and crips. But I know of somebody and some cases now about this conflicting parties. There are still  killings that happened recently. I don't know if authorities are aware of this or if this has been reported, but it's still happening. Sad to say my "friend" had to stop going to school because somebody from the other party is looking for him and is trying to search their house for him. I won't reveal names nor the frat that he belongs to for protection purposes. This has to end and somebody has to act for it!
