Inabanga joined the people worldwide in standing up and speaking up and speaking out against poverty through a forum held at the town cultural center recently.
Mayor Jose Jono Jumamoy and the barangay captains rallied the Inabangnons from all walks of life to join the call to move, be confident, and fight poverty.
He led the recitation of the pledge to fight against poverty and explained the law of supply and demand afterwards.
"We are poor because the demand is greater than the supply," he said.
He used the occasion to again remind parents to limit their number of children and space childbirths in order not to overburden the environment.
A steep rise in population, he explained, can be stressful not only to families itself but to the environment as well as the LGU's resources.
He urged the people to live within their means, to be realistic and to plan the size of their families according to their capability to raise and nurture children, provide them with good education.
For her part, Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member Nena Melecio who chairs the Committee on Health explained the relationship between health and poverty.
"Health is wealth. If we have to buy medicines because we took our health for granted, then we did not 'amass' wealth at all," she said.
