Bohol Sunday PostInabanga Mayor Jose Jono Jumamoy may have traveled far and wide; he may have finished double majors at the Northwood University in Florida, USA, but now that he virtually holds the future of the Inabangnons in his hands at least for the next three years, he is humble enough to go back to the classroom to learn the ropes of governance.
Only 21 years old - one of the youngest, if not the youngest mayor countrywide, Jumamoy attended the recently concluded Basic Course on Local Governance and Administration for newly elected first-termer mayors and governors at the Center for Local and Regional Governance (CLRG) of the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG) in Diliman, Quezon City.
The course provided an overview of the local government system in the country, discussed good governance and development; explained the roles and functions of local chief executives; and discussed the critical steps that should be pursued by first-term mayors in their first three months in office, among others.
Jumamoy had 22 mayors and governors for 'classmates' in the course. They all received diplomas and certificates of attendance from the CLRG-NCPAG.
