Switching from Flute to Tuba?
« on: December 08, 2010, 02:01:30 PM »
I am currently in a 7th/8th grade band, and I play the flute. I am a pretty good flutist, and I have been first and second chair throughout the year. My band teacher told me that flute players would make good a tuba player, and that I should switch. I definitely think that I will change to the tuba, but I was just wondering if that would be a good choice for a flute player like myself. Is the embouchure different? What about reading the music? My band teacher advised me that I should get some lessons, but I just need some input on what it's like to play the tuba. Is switching from flute to tuba an easy transition? Please help!
