How can you change and be the best that you can be. People generally would rather complain about what is wrong than change the situation or their circumstances. I understand the reasons for individuals doing this and the reasons are varied. However, what most people don’t realize is that by complaining, blaming and being overly vocal without taking action, they give away their power to change the situation or themselves. By complaining we put ourselves in the victim role. Are you willing to change and be the victor instead of the victim? Maybe it is time to be your own Hero and take charge of your life. It may be easier than you think and it could also be the best gift you ever give to yourself.

Be part of the solution and not part of the problem. Stand out from the rest and the next time you find yourself in a difficult situation, take a step back and look at what you can do to solve it and let the others continue to complain and vent their frustration. And then take stock of who makes headway and who doesn’t. I have a sneaky suspicion it would be you. Bosses, romantic partners and friends do not like people who play the victim role, so by turning this around and being your own Hero or Victor you could also stand to attract more of what you want in your life: a promotion, a new relationship, umpteen invitations to do something special by friends and family.

What Is A Hero?

If you look at heroes such as Mandela, Ghandi, the Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and so on, I believe they all practiced some common characteristics. The following factors, mentioned below, however, are not unique to such amazing individuals alone. We all have the potential to live our lives in the same way. You do not have to be famous to be a hero. The essential question though, is, “Are You Willing To Be a Hero”

Courageously contributes to others even under the most trying circumstances
Acts unselfishly
Demands more from oneself than others would expect
Defies adversity by doing what he or she believes is right in spite of fear.
Moves beyond the “common sense” of the promoters of the status quo.

Live by the truth of their convictions

So, are you willing to practice these attributes, no matter the circumstances? Are you willing to stop complaining and instead, be part of the solution and find ways to improve the situation you are facing? The choice is up to you. But know that every time you blame someone or external circumstances for something, it puts you in the victim role. When we play the victim it leaves us without choices. Take charge or play the victim – the choice is yours.
