I find myself looking back quite a lot. I've concluded that this isn't very healthy if it becomes obsessive. While I like to re-live the happy times, I frequently end up re-living the sad times, too. I once kept a journal then stopped and after a few years started up again. I looked back at my old journal and I was amazed to find that my thought and behavior patterns hadn't changed very much. From that point of view, looking back was very educational and helped me to change some negative patterns.
